Day 7

Hey Everyone!

So, today was the day of our tea party:  #68. Plan a tea party with real tea cups and little sandwiches — you know, the ones with the crusts cut off.  Very exciting, I know.  Especially for the guys :P.  But, actually, it was lots of fun.  We went to Toca's house, since he was the only one that had real tea cups.  We had tea and peanut butter and jelly finger sandwiches.  Okay, so maybe not the classiest finger sandwiches, but definitely a classic.  It was lots of fun.  We just sat around, drinking tea, eating sandwiches, and talking.  The only thing our tea party was missing was a giant life sized teddy bear.  I guess we'll have to do that at the next tea party xD.

Next, it was on to #99. Use crayons and wax paper to create faux stained glass.  So, you can use the link if you want, but we decided just to color straight on wax paper, while still drinking our tea, of course.  It's a little difficult, but still fun.  Okay, so actually I didn't read the link until after we had just colored on the wax paper, but when we did look at the link we decided ours was better.  Either way, we had fun!  Anyways, that's all for now.  As you may have noticed, many of the things on the list require prior preparation or materials, so hopefully when we meet next we'll be shopping for some of the things that we need so when we get to that number, we can just do it!  Thanks for reading, and hope you're having your own summer full of adventure.

Day 5

Hi All!

We had quite the day today! We met at my house at 9 am and we just wrapped up our day's adventuring.  First, we kayaked on the James River, it was the three of us (of course), my dad, my brother, and his girlfriend.  Lots of fun.  Kayaking involved EPIC splash fights (which I maintain that I won) and going all the way to Bosher's Dam and seeing the fish ladder. We had to power through strong currents (well, once) and avoid hitting rocks.  Not as easy as it sounds.  But, all in all, it was tons of fun, complete with sunburn for me and a few others (the only bad part) and also getting completely soaked (at least for me, but I don't think I was the only one...).  We also tried semi-ridiculous things, such as paddling with your hands (that part wasn't too hard, the hard part was not letting your actual paddle fall when you did that) and at the end we tied our three single person kayaks together to make one big kayak.  Not really that effective, but decently funny.  And, as the people we passed pointed out, the guy in the back (Toca) had the right idea, seeing ashow he couldn't really paddle and so was "forced" into just being towed along xD.  So, this completes one of the ish's on our list of 150(ish) things.  It took us about 7 hours from the time we met at my house to the time we got back, but that includes loading all the boats.  Quite a process.  But, when we got home, more fun was to be had!  After we ate lunch, we chose some more of the list to do.

Preparing for battle?

So, it was lucky #91. Play telephone pictionary with your friends that was next.  The three of us played with my brother and his girlfriend.  TONS OF FUN.  If you've never played, I highly reccomend it.  In fact, go play now!!  It's pretty excellent.  Basically you start with a phrase and you alternate doing pictures and phrases as the paper is passed.  Here's a link to the rules though, unfortunately the one linked to the list is broken :(. http://www.rule0.com/archives/23.  We had tons of fun and tons of laughs as the phrase "explosion" turned into "pong", "orange chicken" turned into "applebees", "dark chocolate truffles" turned into "screen door", "lego" turned into "HAPPY BIRTHDAY", "life is a mystery" turned into "MARIO!", "Ke$ha" ended up as "person with a push pop", and "I'm not thinking of purple gorillas" turned into "bear playing handball" and many many more outrageous ones.  However, "frogger" stayed "frogger" as did "plunger", "magic tree house" and "guitar hero".  Go figure.

To end the day, we did #141. Concoct a baking soda volcano.  It turned out pretty sweet.  I may have used a bit too much red food coloring though. xD.  Still awesome.  Anyways, stay turned for next time, when we will (probably) be having a tea party (gotta say, the guys are less than thrilled about that one...meaning, of course, that I'm even more excited!)

Shot done by our 3rd blogger who will be posting tomorrow.
Hey, this is your blog photographer here.  We have been having an immense amount of fun thus far, I hadn't been kayaking in forever so that was a great experience and at first I managed to stay relatively dry.  However, our other two bloggers saw fit to double team splash me since I was barely wet from the first couple battles. :P (good thing I brought my camera in a zip lock bag)

We were fortunate enough to see several blue herons and not so fortunate to see a snake in the water, but we both just avoided each other and continued on our daily adventures.

Telephone pictionary was surprisingly entertaining.  We went through about ten rounds of it before stopping and the more people there are, the more entertaining it becomes; especially if you have some people that can't draw well.  Hope the you've been enjoying the photos so far and continue to read about our crazy summer adventures. :)
Thunderstorm getting ready to roll in as we head back to the docks.
